That´s a tricky one, I didn´t really plan this one out too much and I do have some ideas on how they could look more realistic but I doubt I´ll ever find the time or energy to do something with that. Thank you!
Thank you very much The fan arts I´ve felt drawn to myself when it comes to Adventure time are the ones that pick up on the warm playfulness of the show, then it doesn´t really matter to me what style they´ve been depicted in. It´s just meant to be fun... and a bit weird
The only good realistic reinterpretation I've ever seen. And by good, I mean fantastic. This illustration and these characters feel like they belong in a Mark Twain novel. If this Finn were to pull back his cowl, I imagine there would be sweaty, matted hair underneath, and not some shiny, effeminate anime pansy hair. I bet he's probably got some dirt under his fingernails, too, and has skinned his knees a few more times than is normal. All of this is evident, right here in the image.
I have nothing against the anime/manga style, which most of the prominent artistic fan base seems to use when reinterpreting these characters. What irks me is that, while they are using a style that is perfectly capable of visually capturing a character's rough-and-tumble lifestyle (just look at characters from Samurai Champloo, FLCL, or Hokuto no Ken), they instead draw some pretty boy that doesn't feel familiar at all. You can't just take a generic anime likeness, slap an outfit on it, and call it Finn.
So anyway, what I'm trying to express is... most Finn and Jake reinterpretations feel a lot like awkward photos of ineffective cosplays... but your little sketch here hits the nail on the head.
Thanks, Noah! It´s great to see someone taking a bit of time out of their day to tell you something in todays culture where people mostly click like or favorite etc. and then move on. I love doing fan art because I try to pronounce and show the things in the subject matter that interests me and it´s always nice to see when someone else picks up on some of the stuff I try to get in there. So again, thanks, man
Thanks for the nice words, man. And thanks for the premium donation, that was very kind of you Not a problem if you want to take a stab at inking the image, I could supply you with a higher resolution version of it if you want.
