Oh man I am loving this sketch so much. This is my new favourite Adventure Time picture, exactly what i've been looking to find. This is like the essence of AT caught right here.

Thanks! :) I tried to capture what I felt AT is for me anyways. Haven´t been keeping up with the show that much since Pendleton Ward left it actually... Have to go on a binge soon.

Thanks, man! :) Sad to say I´m not as big on Adventure time anymore. The earlier stuff was more charming than what it is now. Oh well, I still got Regular show and Rick and Morty.

I agree with you, dig Regular Show much more. You should draw those guys!

At some point I´m sure I will since I´m too much of a fanboy of stuff and do way too much fanart really. It´s just so much fun though.

That looks awesome, if they were real, I bet they would look like that!

That´s a tricky one, I didn´t really plan this one out too much and I do have some ideas on how they could look more realistic but I doubt I´ll ever find the time or energy to do something with that. Thank you!

Wow, I've seen loads of Adventure Time fanart in different style, but nothing grabs me quite like this one :) Love the realistic redesign, and how dynamic the drawing is! :)

Thank you very much :) The fan arts Ive felt drawn to myself when it comes to Adventure time are the ones that pick up on the warm playfulness of the show, then it doesnt really matter to me what style theyve been depicted in. Its just meant to be fun... and a bit weird :)

Feels like a boys-own adventure from the 30s and 40s. This could be from a Frazetta newspaper strip, or Terry and the Pirates. Love it.

Thanks! Never actually seen anything from Terry and the Pirates but Im a massive Frazetta fan so his influence probably shows up in my work every once in a while. Or all the time.

That's a shame you don't sketch that much on pencil since your technique looks pretty fantastic!

Thanks, man! I used to sketch in pencil all the time back in the days and I do every now and then do it nowadays as well. Might show more of that stuff further down the line again.

The only good realistic reinterpretation I've ever seen. And by good, I mean fantastic. This illustration and these characters feel like they belong in a Mark Twain novel. If this Finn were to pull back his cowl, I imagine there would be sweaty, matted hair underneath, and not some shiny, effeminate anime pansy hair. I bet he's probably got some dirt under his fingernails, too, and has skinned his knees a few more times than is normal. All of this is evident, right here in the image.

I have nothing against the anime/manga style, which most of the prominent artistic fan base seems to use when reinterpreting these characters. What irks me is that, while they are using a style that is perfectly capable of visually capturing a character's rough-and-tumble lifestyle (just look at characters from Samurai Champloo, FLCL, or Hokuto no Ken), they instead draw some pretty boy that doesn't feel familiar at all. You can't just take a generic anime likeness, slap an outfit on it, and call it Finn.

So anyway, what I'm trying to express is... most Finn and Jake reinterpretations feel a lot like awkward photos of ineffective cosplays... but your little sketch here hits the nail on the head.

Thanks, Noah! Its great to see someone taking a bit of time out of their day to tell you something in todays culture where people mostly click like or favorite etc. and then move on. I love doing fan art because I try to pronounce and show the things in the subject matter that interests me and its always nice to see when someone else picks up on some of the stuff I try to get in there.  So again, thanks, man :)

Thanks for the nice words, man. And thanks for the premium donation, that was very kind of you :) Not a problem if you want to take a stab at inking the image, I could supply you with a higher resolution version of it if you want.

Definitely one of the best attempts I've seen at doing a realistic rendition of the characters while still remaining true to the spirit of the show.

Thanks, man! The more realistic take on Jake sort of creeps me out a bit myself... in a good way though.
