Even though it's really sad, it was really a beautiful ending to be honest. I'm upset that the big brother died, but the lil' bro finally grew up (wow, I just realized it's a lot like Big Hero 6 ). I'm sure they'll meet up in the afterlife.
The story and the premise for the game is completely the game director Josef Fares idea. The rest of us on the team helped bring his vision to life and contributed with both big and small things but the core of the game is his idea. I wonīt give out his contact info but Iīll make sure to pass on your feedback (along with others who have contacted me about it too) next time I run into him.
Brothers is certainly one of my games of the year, it was one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences I've had as a gamer. I hope to see more from you and the rest of the team in the future that is just as impactful to the gaming industry as Brothers was.
It seems lot of people agree with you and Iīm happy to see the game getting some awards and recognition. The team that made the game have spread out across a lot of different game developers (I went over to Battlefield and Mirrorīs Edge developer DICE for instance) so youīll probably not see a collaborated effort from the same guys again but I also hope that we get to see some more awesome games from all of us who worked on Brothers. Thank you very much
I still haven't figured out how to download it on my PS3, it says "Disc only" in the PS store. :/
Anyway, I watched some gameplay videos and man, the graphics and designs are gorgeous. I hope to play this soon and I totally dig the little brother's design, the hair looks amazing. x) You did a great job on the designs! (This game needs and deserves more attention...)
This particular concept art on ConceptArtWorld was the first thing I saw about the game (I've managed to miss all the reviews). I liked the character design and googled the game, then bought it. Such a beautiful game. Thank you all team members.
Great that you found the game through me, the more people I get to give the game a shot the better (and not because of financial gain, Iīm not at starbreeze since a good while back and donīt take part in any kind of profit from the game)! Nice that you liked it and thank you so much for letting me know
Thank you! I canīt remember actually ever seeing their names in text, every time I talked to the director (Fares) about it we always just refered to them as big brother and little brother. So sorry but I canīt recall that.
Hahah theyīre designed to be around a specific age but we never said that one guy is exactly one age and so on. Youīre pinpointing their approximate age pretty well Iīd say, but like I said they donīt have a set age. No need for confussion, thereīs a lot open for interpretation in the game.
I just played this game and after the credits started to roll I felt immensely grateful to be able to experience what this game had to tell. This videogame may not reward you with experience points nor special items for your goals. And that's great, this game doesn't need any of those since developing a strong empathy with the brothers and the immersion in that world of wonders where their adventure takes place are everything, enough to amaze and inspire the minds of those who takes part on it. Even sitting down on a bench for a while to stare at the landscape is amazingly rewarding!
This is now one of my favourite games (if not THE most). I swear, years will pass and I'll remember fondly this unique and wonderful tale of two sons that you helped to conceive with your wonderful art.
It's not much, but you have now a new follower here, mate. I will certainly make some fanart of this jewel of a game inspired by your art and designs. If you ever like to see the results I would be honored to let you know when that happens.
Itīs great to see how much you seem to love the game! I loved working on it and Iīm proud of what we did with it. Would be great to see some of that fan art of yours so hit me up whenever you want to share some with me. Thank you for all your kind words!
Thank you Iīm not working at Starbreeze anymore so I wouldnīt know about any planned sequel but I doubt there will ever be one. Great that it had such a strong impact on you emotionally and go hug that brother of yours!
Naya and Nayi (their names? or big bro / little bro?). The designs are awesome. Combines some of my favourite styles together. The story was quite emotional and it probably helped that I myself have a little brother. Damn that spider b*** (saw her in the other concept pic).
Thanks! Yeah, I have a brother too so I know what you mean, I get emotional over that type of thing as well. My brother is 5 years older than me though so Iīm the little brother (and have red hair). I used a lot from my own life in the visual designs for this game and the look of the girl is no exception. I didnīt design her final spider formed body though.
